The Beckett Grading form is an essential tool for collectors seeking professional evaluation and grading of their trading cards. It streamlines the submission process, ensuring that collectors provide all necessary information efficiently and accurately. This form requires personal details such as the collector's name, address, and email, along with card-specific information detailing the quantity, year, set name, card number, and declared value. Submission options are available for both grading and authentication, with clear distinctions made for numeric grading versus standard authentication. Additionally, the form addresses payment methods and includes fees for grading services, return postage, and any applicable sales tax. Instructions are issued for proper shipment and handling, emphasizing the importance of card protection during transit. By following these guidelines, collectors can ensure their valued cards receive the attention and accuracy they deserve during the grading process.

1.At this time, Beckett Grading Services accepts and grades most licensed cards up to 8.5 inches by 11 inches. Additional fees will apply to items larger then 3x5. Please note that cards showing evidence of counterfeiting, tampering, or restoration will be charged the full amount according to the service option selected. By not checking either of the “Authentic” boxes on the front of the submission form, your cards will be given a numeric grade if the cards are deemed to be gradable by BGS standards. Usual grading fees apply. Please refer to www.beckett.com/grading for updated information.

2.All submissions must be addressed to Beckett Grading Services. Improperly addressed shipments are not subject to turnaround time selected. Cards should be sent in oversized (3.25" X 5") semi-rigid holders (such as a Card Saver I). “Penny sleeves” should also be used in conjunction with the oversized semi-rigid holders. BGS will not be responsible for any damages incurred by the use of other holders.

3.All card submissions must be accompanied by a Beckett-issued submission form. All other forms, including handwritten copies, are null and void.

4.Please PRINT your name and account number (if you have one) in the upper right corner of the form. If you do not have an account number, one will be assigned to you.

6.Please be sure to notate your return shipping method of choice in the 'SHIP VIA' box. Standard shipping will be via FedEx Ground unless otherwise marked. Feel free to use your existing FedEx or UPS account # if you have one. BGS reserves the right to change carriers without notice unless a shipping account is being used.

7.List all cards you are submitting with quantity, year of issue, set name or company (please use standard Beckett terminology when possible), card number, card/player name, and your declared value per lot. You may use additional forms to list more cards, but please only choose one service level per submission form.

8.Select 'Grading Service' level. Check one level only. (See top of rules section for more details). Please separate cards based on submission levels and requirements.

9.To determine amount owed, use the 'Calculating $ to be paid to BGS' area. Total the number of cards submitted and multiply by the price per card for the grading service you select. Figure return postage and insurance using appropriate tables. Add 8.25% Sales Tax to the cost of service and shipping if you are a Texas resident only, unless the cards are for re-sale and you provide us with a valid re-sale tax ID number.

examined or processed until payment is made in full. Don't forget the expiration date, security code, and signature. All payments must be in U.S. funds. Returned checks will be assessed a $30.00 fee.

11.Be sure to include return insurance and ship to address on top of submission form. Send to the attention of 'Beckett Grading Services. Beckett will not be responsible for damages on packages sent for grading so insurance and tracking is recommended. Owner's declared value is used for determining insurance cost of the return shipment and the maximum amount that can be claimed for damage or loss in shipment for any card or cards. If a claim is necessary at any point, the value of each card will be based upon the actual market value not to exceed the insured value the customer assigned to the card.

International Customers

International customers have two options. We can send the shipment to a U.S. location and the customer can arrange shipment from there. To do this, use the shipping tables above to calculate the shipping cost and include payment with the service fee. Be sure to provide a U.S. destination address on the submission form. The other option is to receive the shipment USPS Global Express. Customers are liable for the cost on any applicable customs, duties and taxes. Failure to abide by these guidelines may result in nondelivery of cards and/or penalty fees charged back to the customers. These fees can be substantial and we encourage you to investigate the costs before sending the submission. Please indicate which of these options you prefer on the shipping line (line 6) on the front of the submission form.

Guidelines on Utilizing Beckett Grading

Filling out the Beckett Grading form can seem overwhelming at first, but breaking it down into manageable steps will make it straightforward. This form is essential for submitting your cards for grading. Before starting, ensure you have all the necessary information and your cards ready for submission. Once you complete the form, follow the instructions to submit your cards along with the necessary payment.

  1. Print your name and account number, if available, in the upper right corner of the form. If you don’t have an account, one will be assigned when your order is received.
  2. Fill out your personal information in the designated sections, including your name, address, city, state, zip code, phone number, and email.
  3. Indicate how you would like the cards to be shipped back to you by checking the appropriate shipping method box.
  4. List each card you are submitting in the form. Include the quantity, year of issue, set name, card number, player name, and the declared value for each card. If you have more cards than can fit on the form, use a second sheet.
  5. Select the grading service level you prefer. Make sure to check only one box for the grading service level.
  6. In the 'Calculating $ to be paid to BGS' section, total the number of cards and multiply it by the grading fee per card. Add any additional fees, such as for oversized items or return insurance.
  7. Calculate the sales tax if you are a Texas resident and fill it in the corresponding line.
  8. Complete the payment section by indicating your payment method. Make sure to include your credit card information, including the card number, expiration date, and CVC code if paying by card.
  9. Sign and date the form at the bottom to confirm your agreement with the terms and conditions provided by Beckett.
  10. Ensure you have included all payment, return shipping, and any other required information before submitting the form along with your cards.

Cards will not be graded or processed until payment is received in full. Ensure you follow the payment instructions on the form to avoid delays.

What grading options are available?

You can choose between different grading levels on the form. Carefully select one grading service level per submission. If you check the authentication box alone, the card will not receive a numeric grade but will be authenticated instead.

Can I send cash with my submission?

No, cash should not be sent with your submission. Use checks or credit cards only for payments to ensure security and proper processing of your order.

What if I have more than 13 cards to submit?

In that case, use a second form to list additional cards. Each form should have its specific service level and details for the cards submitted on that form.

How is the return postage calculated?

Return postage fees are based on the selected shipping method and can vary depending on the number of cards, destination, and chosen service level. Refer to the provided tables on the form for accurate calculations.

What’s the recommended way to package my cards for submission?

Use oversized semi-rigid holders, such as Card Saver I, along with penny sleeves. This provides better protection during transit and reduces the risk of damage, as Beckett Grading Services cannot be held responsible for any damage during shipping.

Common mistakes

Filling out the Beckett Grading form accurately is crucial for ensuring that your cards are processed and graded without delays. One common mistake occurs when people forget to provide their contact details. Missing your name, address, or phone number can lead to confusion and hinder communication. It's essential to double-check that all fields are filled out correctly.

Another frequent error is failing to specify the declared value of each card. This value not only affects insurance costs but also plays a role in the grading process. Leaving this field blank or underestimating the worth of your cards can result in unexpected fees or issues down the line. Make sure to take the time to evaluate each card’s market value accurately and provide this information plainly on the form.

People often overlook the method of shipping when completing the form. Properly selecting the 'SHIP VIA' box is important as it determines how your cards will be sent back to you. Miscommunication here can lead to longer wait times or unnecessary shipping fees. Always take a moment to confirm your shipping preferences are clearly indicated.

Another mistake relates to the payment section of the form. Submitting payment that differs from the total amount calculated can delay the grading process. Ensure that you multiply the grading fee by the number of cards you are sending and that you include any additional costs, like insurance or taxes. If you are mailing payment, consider including a check or money order made out to Beckett.

Not understanding the grading service level options is another area where mistakes frequently occur. It's important to know what each level entails and select only one. Checking multiple options can lead to confusion and potentially incorrect grading of your cards. Take a moment to read through the service descriptions before making your choice.

Lastly, many people submit the form without necessary insurance or tracking. This can be a costly oversight if a problem arises during shipping. By including insurance, you protect your investment should any issues occur. Always ensure your submission includes appropriate insurance based on the declared value of your cards, to safeguard against loss or damage.

This document typically includes credit card information, billing details, and the amount to be charged. Ensuring this form is filled out correctly can prevent delays in processing your submission.
  • Condition Report: This optional document may be provided by the submitter to accompany the Beckett Grading form. It highlights specific details about the condition of the cards, potentially aiding the graders in understanding any existing flaws or qualities that may affect the grading outcome.

  • Only licensed non-gaming cards are eligible for grading. Cards must also meet size specifications to qualify.
