What should I do if I have gaps in my employment history?

If there are gaps of three months or more in your employment, you should explain these on the application. Be honest and provide any relevant context that may clarify your situation.

Is it necessary to provide a Social Security number?

Yes, your Social Security number will be verified as part of the employment application process. This is standard procedure for many employers to confirm identity, eligibility to work, and perform background checks.

What happens if I have a felony conviction?

Having a felony conviction does not automatically disqualify you from employment. You will need to disclose this information in the application and briefly describe the nature of the felony as well as any rehabilitation efforts. The company will consider your overall qualifications and circumstances.

How long will my application remain active?

Your application will remain active for ninety (90) days. If you do not hear back during this time and wish to be considered for employment, you will need to fill out a new application.

Can I submit my application if I am under 16 years old?

If you are under 18, you must have a work permit to apply. You will be asked to indicate your age and the availability of a work permit on the application form.

Will my previous employers be contacted?

Common mistakes

Applying for a job can be stressful, and errors on the Centerplate Application form can narrow your chances of getting an interview. One common mistake is leaving sections blank. Each part of the application is important, leaving out even minor details may signal a lack of attention to detail or seriousness about the position.

Another frequent error occurs when applicants fail to provide accurate contact information. Ensuring that your phone numbers and addresses are correct is crucial. If a potential employer cannot reach you, the opportunity may slip away. Double-check all entries before submitting.

Some people circle the incorrect age option or misunderstand how to indicate their age. It’s essential to select only one age category. Misrepresenting age may lead to complications during the hiring process, especially if an employer needs to verify eligibility for certain roles.

Many applicants overlook the section regarding previous employment. If you’ve worked for Centerplate or its affiliates in the past, it’s vital to circle the appropriate companies and provide dates. Not including this information can weaken your application and raise questions about your work history.

When it comes to felony convictions, omit details in the explanation section if they exist. However, sharing too little information can create suspicion. Providing a thoughtful response about any past misdemeanors can demonstrate your growth and responsibility.

Another issue arises when applicants don’t clearly list their work history. The employment history section should include all relevant details, such as job titles, duties, and reasons for leaving. Incomplete employment records may lead to misunderstandings about your qualifications.

Some candidates neglect to explain any significant gaps in employment. If there are breaks of three months or longer, addressing them briefly but clearly puts employers at ease and offers context regarding your work journey.

Additionally, failing to sign the application is a critical mistake. Your signature indicates that you understand and agree to the terms in the agreement section. Without this, the application may be deemed invalid.

Finally, not reading through the entire application before submission can lead to overlooked mistakes. Taking a moment to review ensures that everything is completed accurately and provides an opportunity to catch any errors that might otherwise hinder your chances of employment.

  • Avoid disclosing unnecessary personal information that is not asked for.

Misconceptions

Misconceptions about the Centerplate application form can lead to confusion amongst applicants. Here are five common misunderstandings clarified:

  • Completion Method: Many believe that any type of pen is acceptable for the application. In reality, you must complete the application form using a ball-point pen.
  • Legal Eligibility: Some candidates think they can submit the application without verifying their legal right to work in the U.S. However, stating you have this right is mandatory, and you will need to provide the necessary documentation if hired.
  • Felony Conviction Implications: A misconception exists that a past felony conviction automatically disqualifies an applicant. The form clearly states that a conviction may not necessarily prevent employment, as each case is evaluated individually.
  • Timeframe of Application: Some applicants assume their application will remain active indefinitely. The form specifies that applications remain active for only ninety days; if you want to be considered after that period, a new application is required.
  • Confidentiality of Information: There may be a belief that any information provided in the application will remain private. In reality, the company can contact previous employers and references. Thus, any information must be accurate and honest to avoid issues.
